Heather Erickson is President of MedTech, the hub of Upstate New York’s bioscience and medical technology industry.  MedTech’s mission is to develop the relationships, tools and programs that enable Upstate New York companies to bring tomorrow’s medical solutions to the healthcare marketplace.  Members of this not-for-profit association are pharmaceutical, biotech and medical technology companies, suppliers and service providers, and research universities located throughout the region.  These organizations strive to form an organized and nationally recognized Bio/Med region where companies and professionals seek to do business.

Erickson was formerly Senior Consultant at the San Francisco headquarters of Edgar, Dunn & Company, an international strategy consulting firm.  At Edgar Dunn, she managed a senior executive benchmarking program representing more than 70% of the consumer credit industry, in addition to developing business plans and new product development strategies for her clients.  She has also worked with the genomics research group at Chiron Corporation, now part of Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics, and researched synthetic protein function in the Pathology Department at Yale Medical School.

Erickson is a board member for the Central New York Biotechnology Research Center and the American Heart Association’s Syracuse Division.  She serves on the State University of New York Professional Science Masters Executive Committee, the CenterState CEO Grants for Growth Advisory Committee, the University at Buffalo School of Engineering Dean’s Advisory Council, and the State University of New York at Oswego Engineering Advisory Board.  Additionally, Erickson is the immediate past co-chair of the State Medical Technology Alliance (SMTA), an organization of major bioscience and medical technology associations across the U.S.  In July 2011, she was appointed to the governor's Regional Economic Development Council for Central New York. She also acts as an advisor for undergraduate students at Syracuse University as chairman of the Pi Beta Phi Alumnae Advisory Committee.

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Erickson received a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from Yale University.  She resides in Syracuse, NY.
